What`s you fav J-band?

X Japan and Malice Mizer are hands-down my two favourite Japanese bands. L'Arc~en~Ciel and B'z are two long-time favourites, too. I've just recently gotten into the glory that is Versailles as well, and I absolutely love what I've heard of theirs so far. I think I'd agree with ZantetsukeN that they're reminiscent of Malice Mizer in some respects. A friend of mine just recently got me into UVERworld, too, and I've enjoyed what I've heard of theirs so far as well. I'll definitely have to look into some of the bands that came up on here that I've yet to listen to, though, as I'm always into making new musical discoveries.

I don't actually really listen to any, but Gackt is my favorite so far. I am considering listening to X Japan and Malice Mizer now, since I suppose those two are pretty good J-rock bands.

X Japan is more J-Metal in most of their albums, but I still consider them J-Rock, lol

I am in a phase where I am just listening to punk and Japan has no shortage of great punk bands. My favourite would probably be THE STREET BEATS or Odd Bowz. Both veterans of the genre but they have awesome back catalogues. Kudos to the Blue Hearts as well.

Outside of J punk Sabbat play excellent black metal.

I don't usually listen to Japanese music, aside few songs I stumble on while going through various anime series. If I had to pick my favorite artist it would definitely be Kajiura Yuki... I know it's not a band... still, her work on Noir was simply outstanding.
